New Jersey residents who get Medicare will no longer have to make large payments for insulin.
A new bill that was passed caps the cost to $35 per month for those who get Medicare benefits.
It is a step toward making insulin affordable for over 600,000 residents with diabetes.
"People are making the choice to pay for their rent or pay for their medication. This should not be a choice. Medication is a key treatment, it brings down A1C by two points. People should be able to afford it and take it,” says Ginine Cilenti, the executive director of the Diabetes Foundation.
The plan will start next year.
