Louis Santiago, of Freehold, can no longer participate, but loves to share his experiences from his 27 years as a marathoner.
He ran in 10 NYC marathons and one in Anchorage, Alaska, where he finished in under four hours.
Santiago had his running career cut short after a major car crash, but had some motivating words for this year’s participants.
“Never say die, man,” he told News 12.
Santiago will continue his ritual of watching the marathon from home surrounded by his friends and family.
