JamaGrille is providing the people of Monmouth County with a taste of the Caribbean right here in New Jersey.
“Every time the flame turns on, there’s love that’s being put in it,” says owner Camall Wright.
JamaGrille is a Jamaican restaurant located in Neptune.
“No. 1 sellers would be our oxtail, brown stew dishes,” says Wright.
Wright says that his restaurant offers a lot of dishes that are made to order.
“It can’t be pre-packaged. It can’t be already made. It can’t come out of a can,” he says.
The business is striving to serve quality Caribbean food while also trying to survive in the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We operate with just takeout only,” says Wright. “Most of our tables are pushed to the side, but that will change soon."
Indoor dining can resume in New Jersey on Sept. 4. Wright says that the tables will be 6 feet apart for social distancing.
“Our cleaning staff know as soon as a customer comes in or comes out, you know, we have to clean up the area. We’re definitely going to do temperature checks,” says Wright.
Wright says that he takes great pride in his restaurant and his food.
“JamaGrille is my baby, you know? I take care of everything. The good, the bad, ugly. No matter what happens here, I feel it personally,” says Wright.
Wright says that his dream is to one day franchise JamaGrille.
