A 46-year-old man is in the hospital after police say he was stabbed multiple times in Allerton Wednesday morning.
Investigators are searching for the person responsible.
Police say the man was attacked around 11:20 a.m. near Burke and Cruger avenues. He was seen stumbling down Burke Avenue while holding his wounds before collapsing on the sidewalk.
FDNY firefighters were already in the area responding to a nearby gas leak and immediately rushed to help the victim until EMS arrived.
The man was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition. Police say he has been unable to provide investigators with a description of his attacker.
The intersection was closed for several hours as detectives searched for evidence and worked to determine what led to the stabbing.
According to the NYPD, felony assaults in the 47 Precinct are down more than 10% so far this year.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
