A Cranford township committee meeting took an unusually weird turn after multiple disruptions during the public comment session.

Now, Mayor Kathleen Miller Prunty is calling for an end to the “antics” after the chaotic meeting.

One speaker, who was dressed as a giant purple bong, identified himself as “Bong-Holeo.” He addressed the council with a baby also dressed as a bong, before singing a Lizzo song then leaving.

Police say another speaker, identified as 52-year-old William Thilly, refused to stop speaking after his allotted time and ignored officers’ commands.

Authorities say Thilly resisted as officers removed him, injuring an officer.

Thilly was previously known for derailing a September 2025 meeting by breakdancing.

Prunty said the behavior has left some residents feeling unsafe and that “the antics” are drowning out public concerns.
