There has been an increase in women gaining access to health care in New Jersey.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced Thursday that an additional 10,000 women received care after $7.5 million in family planning funding was restored last year.

The money allowed clinics to expand services and hours. Family planning centers increased from 42 to 47 and centers are now operating in all 21 counties in the state.

"Today 11 months since we put New Jersey in a new direction. We are seeing the early, real results of our efforts. This is not abstract. These are real lives and real realities. That's the resounding message, the actual impact this is having,” Murphy said.

Funding for family planning was also restored for the 2019 budget.
