Muggy conditions and chances for rain, storms in parts of New Jersey

New Jersey has a high rip current risk Tuesday and higher than normal tides due to super blue moon.
Hurricane Franklin becomes the first major category 3 hurricane of the season. We are already seeing long period swells from Franklin at the Jersey Shore. Tropical storm Idalia is likely to make landfall on Florida’s West Coast.
WHAT’S NEW: Idalia is now a Hurricane Category 1. Hurricane Idalia will likely strengthen to a category 3 or higher before landfall in the Tampa, Florida area.
WHAT’S NEXT: A much better bet for rain is on the way for the Wednesday morning commute. Rain could be heavy with some storms as well. After the storm chance Wednesday morning, we have an absolutely gorgeous stretch of weather into and through the holiday weekend.
TODAY: Temperatures are in the mid-60s to near 70. There is rain around but most of it will likely stay just offshore. Expect a mostly cloudy sky.
