Hazlet First Aiders were faced with an atypical response situation after a finding a swarm of more than 50,000 honeybees at their station.
Beekeeper Peter Patak, of Red Bank, was called in to take a look and get the bees safely out of the wall. Patak was called in rather than an exterminator since honeybee populations are dwindling worldwide.
About 1,000 bees are left at the station and will be removed in coming days. The collected bees will be divvied between several New Jersey beekeepers.
For the record, squad members did try the honey and said it's delicious.
