There has been another case of MRSA reported in a school in New Jersey.A letter was sent home Friday with students at Columbia High School in Maplewood confirming that a student tested positive for the drug-resistant staph infection. The letter, signed by Maplewood's health officer and a physician, said that every precaution is being used to control the bacteria and that it is most frequently transmitted by direct skin-to-skin contact.Doctors say one should wash their hands frequently and keep wounds clean and covered to keep the infection from spreading. They also advise not sharing personal items such as bed linens or razors and to get a flu shot. A flu shot will not prevent the staph infection, but doctors say it can diminish the symptoms.Previously, cases of MRSA were reported in Vernon, Montvale, Ocean Township and Point Pleasant.
