Voters in Mount Olive Township threw out their mayor Tuesday before his term ended, moving quickly to install a replacement.
David Scapicchio was sworn in Wednesday by a lifelong friend, U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie. Voters in Mount Olive worked for more than a year to recall Mayor Richard De La Roche, who took office in 2004. They chose Scappichio to step in and run Mount Olive.
Scapicchio says he plans to bring change to City Hall. Christie heaped praise on Scapicchio and feels confident he will serve the community. Scapicchio will finish out the year remaining on De La Roche?s term. He plans to run for a full term next year.
