A 75-year-old man was hospitalized with a serious head injury Sunday after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a crash with a vehicle that then left the scene.
According to Monroe Township Police, the collision occurred at the intersection of Union Valley Half Acre Road and North Pondview Boulevard on Sunday at about 4:35 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist in the roadway. Police said he suffered a serious head injury and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by Monroe Township EMS and paramedics.
During an investigation, police learned that the Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on Union Valley Half Acre Road. As the motorcycle approached North Pondview Boulevard, a vehicle, described as possibly a white SUV, was traveling southbound on Union Valley Half Acre Road. The SUV then turned left onto North Pondview Boulevard in front of the motorcycle, which resulted in the collision.
In a statement, Monroe Township Police said the SUV left the scene after the crash. Investigators are now trying to identify the driver who fled. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who might have seen the SUV before or after the incident, to contact the Monroe Township Police Department Traffic Safety Division at 732-521-0222. Police are also looking for anyone with surveillance or dash cam footage of the crash to contact officers.
