Police in Morris County are searching for the mother of a newborn found abandoned in Victory Gardens Monday night.
According to police, a woman found the newborn in a van parked at the Brook Run Apartment Complex off Washington Avenue. The eight-pound baby girl was covered with blankets and left in the van?s front seat. The newborn was taken to St. Clare?s Hospital in Denville with her umbilical cord still attached.
Police say the baby is healthy, but is still without a mother or father. Authorities say if and when the mother is found, she could face criminal charges for abandoning her child.
