Morris Plains pub to shutter after nearly 50 years because of pandemic

A Morris Plains pub will be closing its doors after nearly 50 years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The owners of Collins Pub said they are saddened to have to close their doors, but they are asking for support as they look for new endeavors.
The bar holds special memories for a local crossing guard. Steve Welsh says that he met his wife at there in 1973. They have been married for 42 years.
“It’s almost like Cheers. You go there and everybody knows everybody. And it’s just a shame,” he says.
The pub will close permanently on Feb. 15.
