Two New Jersey residents have admitted to generating the hoax that had many people wondering if UFO's had hit the Garden State.
A YouTube video shows Chris Russo and Joe Rudy creating their "UFO's" with flares attached to balloons. The local pranksters say they weren't aiming to make anyone look foolish, but rather they wanted to show that UFO's don't exist. The pair's mysterious red lights had been spotted over Morris County in recent months.
The Morris County prosecutor, however, isn't looking at the situation as an absolute joke. He says the ruse sparked FAA and Homeland Security investigations, plus many phone calls to local police. Russo and Rudy are now being charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
