More steps are being taken Tuesday to protect Bronx and city children.
City Council members, advocates and residents announced a budget initiative to invest more than $4 million in child welfare preventative services overseen by the Administration for Children Services (ACS). The funding is aimed at decreasing caseloads of ACS workers and increasing the frequency of visits with at-risk children and families.
Meanwhile, the City Council is set to vote Tuesday on legislation officials say would help the Council and the public monitor the ACS more closely. The legislation would require detailed quarterly reports, including statistics on caseworker experience and the number of caseloads in each office.
