The group Moms Helping Moms received a congressional commendation Friday for its work collecting diapers and baby items for needy families.
All week it has been hoping to help babies across the state for Diaper Need Awareness Week.
"There are social safety net programs that help families with food," says Bridget Cutler, organization's president. "There is nothing in existence for diapers."
Cutler says that if a family can't afford diapers, it can't send its children to day care or early education programs.
The group takes donations at its center in North Plainfield between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on weekdays. For more information, click here.
