Some post offices and mail-sorting facilities are on the chopping block in New Jersey as the postal service tries to save money, but there's one post office that is closed for other reasons.
The Milltown Post Office is closed because of damage left behind by Tropical Storm Irene. The building flooded last August and most employees and services were relocated to the nearby East Brunswick office.
The options for the post office now are to refurbish and reopen, reopen elsewhere in Milltown or fully consolidate with East Brunswick, shutting down the damaged post office for good. Residents say it's inconvenient for them to drive elsewhere to pick up their mail. Many say they want to see their post office the way it was before Irene blew through.
