As the Milltown post office re-opens for the first time since April, town officials say they are working to prevent similar destruction in the future.
The post office lies near the Lawrence River and suffered severe flood damage following April?s nor?easter. Once the water settled, officials say the building needed to be completely rebuilt.
Mayor Gloria Bradford says the Army Corps of Engineers and environmentalists performed a site assessment Monday. Officials are awaiting the report to determine what actions to take in the future, Bradford said.
Borough officials say they are still working with FEMA to assess the nor?easter?s damage.
Milltown?s city hall, power station and municipal garage also suffered flood damages.
