The Millstone River in Somerset County crested at just under major flood stage, at around 14 ½ feet, following heavy rain from Henri.
The location is where the Millstone and Delaware rivers combine with the Raritan Canal.
One person became stuck on Canal Road after driving through the flooded street.
"It was raining and the water was rising and back here I was able to get through this puddle but then there's an even deeper one over there…my car got stuck and stalled. I can't get it out,” said Max Garner of Monmouth Junction.
This was the highest the river has crested at Blackwells Mills since 2014.
This crest was a full 7 feet lower than the floods in both hurricanes Irene and Floyd.
The river is not expected to drop below flood stage until Tuesday night.
