Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has traded GTL (gym, tan, laundry) for the three B's: babies, business and buzz.
News 12 New Jersey's Carissa Lawson caught up with the "Jersey Shore: Family Vacation" star and his wife Lauren in Friday's Jersey Buzz. The couple discussed living in New Jersey, their businesses and what it’s like being a part of a hit TV show that debuted 14 years ago on MTV.
“It’s not so crazy and wild anymore like it was in our 20s," Mike said.
Mike and Lauren were both asked to say the thing that first comes to mind when saying the name of a "Jersey Shore" member, starting with Angelina.
“Oh, damn, umm…drama,” Mike said while laughing.
He also discussed Ronnie Ortiz-Magro's recent surprise visit on the show.
"It was good for him to put his mental health first, and we definitely support that," Mike said.
The couple lives in Holmdel and share two kids. So, what is it like dating and then marrying a reality TV star? Lauren said, “It’s been a wild ride, for sure. Being Mike’s wife, I kind of got thrown into it."
"Reality TV is not my experience or my history. But I love my husband and I will support him in everything he does so I’m along for it," she said.
From "The Situation" to "The Motivation," Mike acknowledged the many challenges he has faced over the years and said he and Lauren stayed in faith.
“I think America, and the fans, the viewers, they have sort of grown up with me. They have seen a lot of my fault, they have seen a lot of my triumphs as well, so I’m very proud of my story and where I am today – a father of two, married five years, sober going on my eighth year, running multiple businesses on one of the top television shows on Thursday nights. So, it’s a good story and the story continues," Mike said.
They also discussed their business ventures. Lauren, who is from Holmdel, opened Bijoux Boutique in Middletown. The grand opening for Bijoux Boutique will take place in mid-April. Lauren says she had a career in luxury fashion buying before appearing on TV.
“I’m very excited to be back in the fashion business, and it’s definitely my passion," Lauren said. "It’s been crazy opening a business while having a newborn and a toddler, and TV show and a husband, and everything else."
Mike has his own business called Brotrition, a nutritional company that includes pre-workout, protein, vitamins and more.
“I believe that the message I share on TV today is an amazing inspirational, positive message,” Mike said.
“Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” is in its sixth season and airs on MTV every Thursday at 8 p.m.
