Midland Park police are warning business owners about fraudulent invoices that appear to come from the borough’s Planning and Zoning Department and request nearly $9,000 by wire transfer.

Police said they have received multiple reports of local businesses receiving emails seeking payment for various fees.

An example shared by police shows an invoice bearing the borough’s name and logo and requesting $8,953.

Police said the borough does not require payments by wire transfer.

Business owners are urged to verify payment requests directly with Borough Hall and the appropriate department.

Anyone who receives a suspicious invoice resembling the one shared by police is asked to contact the Midland Park Police Department.
