(05/23/07) MIDDLETOWN ? Middletown police shot and killed a coyote Wednesday in the same location where a child was attacked.

The animal was killed around 4:15 a.m. As police tracked that animal, four other coyotes were spotted. The incident took place after a 5-year-old boy was bitten on the back of the head by a coyote Monday night. The victim, Brayden Gazette, is recovering from that attack.

The shooting of the animal took place about 500 feet from the entrance of Earle Naval Base. Another child was also attacked in Middletown six weeks ago.

Residents are relieved one animal no longer poses a threat. However, they are worried about the four other animals that were spotted.
