Middletown officials broke ground on a new affordable housing complex that will be solely for veterans.
The complex will be built at the Campbell’s Junction section of Belford.
A Department of Housing & Urban Development report shows that New Jersey saw an 8% increase in homeless veterans between 2019 and 2020.
"I couldn't be more proud to have a town that values the opinion, the needs and gets it right from veterans themselves. Because veterans know best for veterans,” says Mayor Tony Perry.
The United States Interagency Council on Homelessness lists two counties – Bergen and Middlesex – as creating systems that have ended veteran homelessness.
