Friday was a big day for Taylor Swift fans as the pop icon’s 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” was released.

Swift’s latest album was cause for a celebration in downtown Metuchen, with an album release party taking place involving local businesses.

The event kicked off at Acting Out, where Swifties could get booklets that they filled up with stickers after visiting each shop.

There was so much to do at the event, including photo ops, friendship bracelets, karaoke, food, special drinks and much more.

The Metuchen Downtown Alliance put the event together. It called it a night to embrace your showgirl and shop local era. The board says it's all about keeping its finger on the pulse and giving people a reason to come downtown.

"Taylor is so vibrant, and so many great young kids here just can, you know, want to be like her and just pretend and have fun, and we're going to give them that experience tonight,” says Roberta Lowe, owner of Acting Out.

"Metuchen, we like to be current and edgy, and we like to be, you know, on the cutting edge of what's important to the community at the moment, and I think that this is one to be celebrated,” says Dawn Mackey, executive director of the Metuchen Downtown Alliance.

The event ran until 9 p.m.
