Another round of messy winter weather created a frustrating commute for many New Jersey drivers.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) said almost 500 trucks were out salting roads down to the blacktop. Still, some drivers complained the roads weren?t clear enough, and more than 200 accidents were logged Wednesday.
New Jersey Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri said the DOT can?t take all the blame.
?All of the incidents so far this morning you can pin the weather on, but I can also bet you standing here they were also speed related,? Kolluri said.
He said the DOT can only salt roads during a light snow because there isn?t enough of the powdered stuff to plow.
Meanwhile, the DOT is asking for an additional $10 million to help pay for snow removal this season.
