Mayor Eric Adams announced the country’s first mobile “test-to-treat” program, allowing people to get tested and treated for COVID-19 at the same time.
Mobile testing units will now welcome a clinician on board that can prescribe anti-viral medication to those with COVID-19, including those who just tested positive at the site.
Those with COVID-19 will receive Paxlovid, a prescription oral antiviral drug that reduces the risk of hospitalization and death for people with the virus.
So far, three mobile units are participating, with 30 expected to be accessible by the end of July.
They’ll be located outside pharmacies across the city, with one of the three initial locations located outside the Burke Avenue Pharmacy. For the full list of locations, click here.
