A Plainfield man remains hospitalized Thursday after masked assailants fired a shotgun at his face.
According to police, the 27-year-old victim was walking under a bridge when two men wearing ski masks came up to him and shot him in the face. Police say dozens of metal pellets remain lodged in the victim's skin and eyes. Doctors believe the victim, whose identity was not released, may lose an eye.
The neighborhood rests between two Baptist churches and is known as dangerous. Police have set up a substation in the area and are working with the housing authority to decrease criminal activity there. Despite some improvements, neighbors say shootings like this make them feel unsafe.
