Rep. Jones distributes COVID tests to areas facing shortages

Rep. Mondaire Jones is distributing the 1,000 extra tests he received from the governor's office to those he feels need it most - about 100 to each location.

Everyone in the country is eligible for four COVID-19 tests, but what if it isn't enough?
Nyack Head Start is an early education program from low-income families. It says it is facing a COVID test shortage.
"The state said they have millions of tests that they were distributing - yet we got 22," says Nyack Head Start director Kira Davenport. There are 111 children in the program.
On Wednesday night, there were long lines throughout Clarkstown of people looking to secure some at-home tests as well.
Rep. Mondaire Jones is distributing the 1,000 extra tests he received from the governor's office to those he feels need it most - about 100 to each location.
"Based on the number of people being served in high-need communities. Whether it's Haverstraw or Nyack or New City where we've got large populations where a lot of folks who don't have the resources to purchase their own COVID-19 tests," says Jones.
Inside the antigen test boxes are two COVID tests. So, while they're getting a delivery of 100 boxes - they're actually getting 200 tests to work with.
Jones is heading to towns throughout Westchester County Friday to hand out the rest of the supply.
