The Fairleigh Dickinson University Men’s Basketball team won its Play-In game Wednesday night and will now play one of the top teams in the country this weekend.
Will New Jersey fans see another magical run for a local school this year? After the big 23-point dominating FDU win last night over Texas Southern in the NCAA Tournament Play-In game, you never know. It’s one game at a time, but after a win like this you can’t help but start to dream up a run - just like Saint Peter's run to the Sweet 16 in 2022.
"It's always exciting you know when a small school makes the big tournament. You gotta come out, you gotta celebrate you, gotta have a couple drinks," said Alexander McLucas, Vice President of Black Alumni Association of FDU.
FDU won only four games last season but first year head coach Tobin Anderson has completely turned this team around and clearly has them moving in the right direction.
Up next for the Knights is No. 1 Purdue, one of the best teams in the country. The tip-off is Friday at 6:50 p.m. Princeton Tigers are also in the tournament. The team is in Sacramento also hoping to make a run themselves but first must take care of Arizona on Thursday at 4 p.m.
