A man from Roselle on an electric scooter was hit and killed by a car in Linden on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Wood Avenue and East Gibbons Street.
Police say the man was trapped underneath the car, and members of the Linden Fire Department lifted the car to free him.
The victim, who is unnamed, died later at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway.
According to authorities, initial reports indicate the car was traveling south on N. Wood Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto E. Gibbons Street when it collided with the man, who was traveling south on a scooter in the northbound lanes.
The driver of the car was not injured in the crash. There's no word on any charges.
The crash remains under investigation.
