A 39-year-old man is expected to be OK after being shot while sitting inside his car early Tuesday morning in Bushwick.
The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. near Cooper Street and Broadway, according to police.
Officers arrived and found the man with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and hand. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he is listed as stable.
Surveillance video from the area captures the moment shots rang out. In the video, you can hear multiple gunshots as a person rushes across a crosswalk. Seconds later, a car speeds through the intersection.
A police source tells News 12 the man was shot while inside his vehicle. That same source says the person responsible drove off in a dark-colored car.
Neighbors say the sound of gunfire woke them up.
“I heard like bang bang bang bang bang like eight or nine times. I was scared. I was hoping that it wasn’t too close to my house,” one neighbor said.
Another resident, Tabbatha McCall, said while the violence is upsetting, it’s not completely surprising.
“it’s really unfortunate. I take the train every day I I’m walking to work right now. I have five children. This is where I live in this community. It’s just unfortunate. It’s sad,” said McCall.
No arrests have been made.
Investigators are still working to figure out what led up to the shooting.
