A man was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for killing a retired Newark school teacher.

Bruce Hay was sentenced in the death of Annie King, who was found in her home with severe head injuries two years ago.

Prosecutors say Hay tried to take her purse, and when she resisted, he killed her.

Authorities say Hay has been arrested 60 times, mostly for disorderly conduct and drug offenses.
