A New Jersey man was overbilled thousands of dollars on his credit card and couldn’t get anyone to listen, until he got Kane in his Corner.
Jim Jakubowski’s boiler died, leaving him without heat or hot water. A heating and cooling company quoted him $7,500, half up front and half when the job was done. Jakubowski said the boiler stopped working, so he called his credit card provider, Discover, to dispute the second half payment of $3,750.
Eventually, the boiler company agreed to give Jakubowski a discount and that’s when things went wrong. He made a new payment to pay off the bill, but Discover also sent the boiler company an extra $3,250 from that original disputed payment, meaning Jakubowski had now paid thousands more than he owed. Try as he might, he could not get the extra payment refunded.
“I can't tell you how many people I spoke to about this,” Jakubowski says.
The dispute dragged on so long the boiler company went out of business. But when Kane In Your Corner called Discover on Jakubowski’s behalf, the credit card provider company quickly contacted him and refunded his overpayment.
“You were my last hope and my only hope,” Jakubowski says, “and I appreciate it.”
