Man killed in exchange of gunfire with Jersey City police officer
Family members identified the man as 27-year-old Teshan Rogers.

The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General is investigating a police-involved shooting in Jersey City that happened early Tuesday morning.
Officials say that the shooting happened around 1 a.m. near Bergen and Virginia avenues. They say that officers assigned to the Jersey City Police Department's Street Crimes Unit came across a man they deemed to be suspicious.
According to a social media post made by Mayor Steven Fulop, the officers spotted a person “acting suspiciously and noticed a bulge in his clothing.” Fulop said that the officers thought that the man had a gun and that when the officers approached him, he opened fire.
An officer fired back. The man was taken to Jersey City Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not officially released the name of the man fatally shot or the police officers involved. But family members have told News 12 that he was 27-year-old Teshan Rogers.
They shot him down in the street, they killed him and would not tell me what happened. All they did was come here, flashing lights in my eyes and saying that they were looking for him,” said Darshell Robinson, Roger’s grandmother.
Authorities say that a gun was recovered at the scene.
