ROSELLE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say the New Jersey man who shot and killed a woman before turning the gun on himself was accused of attacking the woman in April.

The bodies of 49-year-old Dominick Richards, of Roselle, and 22-year-old Anishalee Cortes, of Newark, were found around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Richards' home. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Newark police arrested Richards in April after Cortes said he had broken into her home and assaulted her at gunpoint. Police seized the gun and Richards was released after being charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

Union County prosecutors didn't say what may have sparked Tuesday's shooting.
