Police say 23-year-old Tyrese Smith was shot multiple times at the corner of Lafayette and Reid streets, with one bullet reportedly hitting him in the head. Witnesses say he collapsed by a light pole and they complain it took more than a half-hour for help to arrive. Relatives of the victim say his 18-year-old cousin was injured shortly after in a separate shooting around the corner from the scene. Smith?s grandmother remembers him as a fun-loving person who liked music, dancing and children.
Police say the injured teenager has been released from the hospital. Investigators are not revealing whether the two shootings are related.
