A fire at a Newark apartment building claimed the life of one resident Saturday.
Firefighters found the body of a man in his 30s inside a first-floor apartment at 229 Berkley Terrace. Neighbors say the apartment where the man was found is where they first saw flames flaring from the windows.
The fire started at about 8:30 a.m., and firefighters believe it began in the living room of the first-floor apartment. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office and Arson Squad are investigating.
