The man accused of killing Sayreville councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour appeared in court on Monday.
Prosecutors say Rashid Bynum faces murder and weapons charges.
During a motion and disposition conference, the judge asked for all final motions to be filed by July 26.
Bynum’s next court hearing is scheduled for September 9.
Bynum is accused of killing Dwumfour outside her Sayreville apartment complex in February 2023.
He was arrested in Chesapeake, Virginia in May 2023 and extradited to New Jersey the following July.
