Officials with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spoke about a major roadway improvement project at Port Newark.
They say the work will have a significant impact on traffic in the area.
The port is one of the largest marine terminal complexes in the country with local access to state roads and Newark Liberty International Airport.
"This is going to provide efficiency, is going to provide resiliency, and is going to improve safety for the truck drivers, the tens of thousands of truck drivers, that use our facilities every single day and the other 20,000 to 30,000 people who work in and out of our port facility,” said Bethann Rooney, director of the Port Authority.
There will be a redesign and rebuild of the northern entrance at the port. Work is expected to be completed by 2028.
