It is a summer Friday. Let's go to the shore from Main Street, New Jersey. Lauren de reporting on local businesses in Lavalle this morning. Yeah. And knowing Lauren, she'll probably need some caffeine to take us all over this town. Shall I say one of her favorite towns? Good morning, Lauren. Good morning. Here it is coffee and, and I'm so excited to be here. Yeah, not much of a commute this morning by the way, but we're starting off with Java here. We got Brooklyn Adams, the owner here. I'm in Brooklyn. Pleasure. I'm here secretly here, but nobody knows. No, I know it is. Early office is closed right now. Everyone. What time do you open up? We open at seven and we close at two and you know, there's a line out the door the entire time and it is well worth the wait. That's right. So take us inside. Let's go inside. Let's go see. I mean, this is so iconic, the yellow awning here, Scott. You could go on and first watch your step. This is great, Brooke. I mean, thanks for having us in here and the coffee is so great, but I think what's even better is the vibe that you put out here too. Thank you so much. We really try and make it all inclusive for, for everyone to be able to come in here and feel good. Whether you're a coffee drinker, tea drinker, pork roll eater, Taylor Ham, eater, whatever you are, you are welcome here. I know. And so I'm Taylor Ham. You were team Taylor Ham but grew up Taylor Ham. But now I'm pork roll. I know and I respect you. I, I say pork roll and you made us some pork roll sandwiches too right over here. So here we go. And um muffins and crumb cake. Yeah, we have uh fresh muffins all day long. Here. We'll do the cheese because that's always the fun part already. Uh That's the beauty of it. And we made a BLT with avocado. Another one of our signature uh sandwiches. And you were telling me you think this menu is so simple. I do. I have worked in some places that are just out of control and you're constantly trying to keep up. And I feel I said when I open this, I'm gonna make it super simple, super fresh, super good. Everything just coming out and being like this. And I think you did that because everyone when they come to Lavalle, you know, they're stopping at Lava Java. Yeah, it's kiss meant it was all meant to be. And you have a, a history here in, in you. Yeah. My, my parents, uh, my mother's parents are from, uh, here since I was born and I was a badge checker. I worked at Crabs Club. I've been on the island a very long time. So when this open, when this spot became available, it was like we had to take X, there was no coffee around here then. Now there's a few coffee shops. But, um, knock on wood. We're still, we're still hanging strong and this will be our ninth summer and next year will be our 10th year. Open Brooke. Where's your cup of coffee? Uh I'll make that in a little bit. I wanted to make sure you guys are set first. I drink. Ok. How many do you drink? I have about nine shots a day. Wow. I finally found someone that is on my level. If not a little bit higher. Brooke. Thank you for opening up Lava Java for us this morning. Thanks for the opportunity. We're in love but Lauren is from New Jersey. Brooke. Does she wanna work for our morning team? Because we do a lot of coffee and espresso shots. But that's impressive. That is a lot of coffee. All right. Well, let's go to Lavalle from Main Street, New Jersey. This morning, Lauren de is showing us around the beach town while highlighting lots of local businesses right now. She is gonna show us a place to stay in town after being fully caffeinated. Lauren tell us about the trade winds, ok? But not nine shots in like Brooke was, but we're at the trade so you could see no vacancy here. So you know what that means. It's gonna be a great beach weekend. Let's go inside and meet the owners here because I'm told this is a great family business and I think the whole family is waking up for us this morning. So we're gonna go inside and say go morning. We have Walt Tammy, Tommy over here. I mean, thanks for waking up early this morning. This is a, a family business. It's been around for so long. It's iconic in Oh yeah, it's 53 years. Our, our family has uh built it in 1970 along with uh some other relatives and we've taken it over recently. We have some family members that are retired. We're very happy for them. But um we kind of challenged our, our kids. This is a, you know, a beautiful one block motel in and, and they're taking the reins along with my wife and just seeing, uh, how, how we can keep it up and, you know, improve on it. And I heard a special story about you two, tell everyone the story. Well, years ago, my parents used to have Kay's Bakery across the street and, uh I used to bring jelly donuts over and clean the windows. And I had a special person that I wanted to see all the time. And you know, we got married several years later. We're still, we're still here at the Trade Winds and kind of enjoying our lives with our kids here. And what's your favorite part about working here? I love the people. I love interacting with all the guests that come in. I love to hear their stories. Um Families just come here to trade ones to make happy memories. And it, it does my heart good to hear about their memories that they've created the traditions for 53 years. We've hosted generations of families. So they come back with their Children, their grandchildren and they're always telling us a story. So that's what makes it so special because they continue the tradition and they want to continue a lifetime of making memories in Latte at Trade Winds. I love LA so much. I love you too, so much. And Tommy, do you love working with your parents. Yes, it's been a great time being able to hang out together and, you know, run the business and be able to create a great environment for guests coming down to the shore and being able to go to the beach and yeah, we enjoy working together. Ok. So last question, do you have any openings if someone wants to come down last minute? Not this weekend. Um, gonna be so nice if we do though, toward like toward the end of August, middle of August, we have sporadic days. We'd love to have you. September is like the most beautiful month to come to the Jersey shore, Lavalle. Just glistens in September and the beaches are still beautiful because they're really pretty isolated at that time. It's a summer Friday. We head to the shore for Main Street, New Jersey with Lauren de reporting on local businesses in Lavalle. Yeah, she's getting some ice cream at icebergs. Lauren. Do they have maybe perhaps my favorite cookie dough, which is cookie dough. Do you guys have cookie dough? We do. You guys beach? Is this my ice cream is right here. We have bath. We have Jordan. We have a and you know what I love about this so much. It's a family owned business, great employees. I mean, you can't go wrong here. No, you can't go wrong. We're very lucky. Yeah. So what's your favorite ice cream? My favorite. Oh, it changes right now. It's a cookie dough cookie dough just like mine is either cookie dough or death by chocolate. Death by chocolate. Ok. Probably salted caramel chip. These flavors. They're so cool. And you make them all right here. Everything's made right in the back. Yeah, it's all home made. And how long have you been making ice cream for 2005? I started. So this has been here since 1977 but my family took it over in 2005. So you kept it going, kept it going. Yeah, it's fun. It's only six months out of the year. So we get to go hard and then we get a break. So go hard with the hard ice cream. Jordan. What's your favorite part about working here? My favorite part about working here is just working with a very tight knit community. We're all friends. We're all good friends with each other, but we also know how to work really hard. So coming together, you know, to achieve um, an overall goal, it's great. And you guys woke up super early because you know, up until noon, Scott, you ever win the ice cream flavors because you got some cool ice cream flavors, any of us. So, did you get like screaming kids or do you get happy kids? It depends on the day probably, but most of the time they're happy. I mean, how can you not be right when you have ice cream? My husband calls us Happy Land and you know what? I, so my, I take my kids here and my kids are so happy here and they love seeing all your smiling faces and the ice cream is not bad either. Thank you. Thank you. The ice cream is so good. All right. Well, we are gonna continue our tour. And, um, what time, what time do you open? Because you're not open yet? 12 to 11 every day. And then there's a line out the door around 99 30 but it goes quick. We move you out. So don't worry. Well, thanks for opening up super early. Thanks for coming. It was so great meeting you. So Lauren you're at uh what kind of place now you've had ice cream? You've had coffee, checked out a little hotel. That was really nice. What's the latest here? Well, now we're gonna go have some toast. Ok? But let me give you the lay of the land. So this is Iceberg where we just wear iceberg's ice cream. We got Lenny across the street there, Lava Java in the background. And if you go all the way down, you got the crowds claw. All right. So let's go in, let's go meet the owners here and the family. We're going to go into tea and to look at this guys. We got the cute family here this morning. Thanks for waking up early, everyone. Good morning, Jasmine. Ok. So your middle name Diao Demore. Where did that come from? That's actually my grandmother's maiden name. This is her right here. You can see her Elizabeth demo and my grandfather. So I named this place after her because she was the chef in the family that really taught me how to cook. And you open. This is your second summer here. Our second summer. It's going great. We love Lavalle and you're opening up a second location. We are in Wall on Route 35 where the circus used to be. Oh, ok, great. And so your toast obviously must be so good. People seem to love it and we're very excited about that. So, what do you make for us? Um, today we have our BLT with fresh jersey tomatoes. Um Then we have our Tuscan toast which reminds me of under the Tuscan sun. We actually roast our peaches here. And then next, we have our unreliable, which has a lovely brie cheese melted over honey, crisp apples with prosciutto de Parma. Then we have our perfect toast, which is goat cheese, our baked pears, honey and cinnamon sugar. And then after my husband, we have the architectural toast. It's got many layers of flavor. It starts with some avocado, our fresh arugula salad, bacon, our perfectly poached egg, everything, bagel, seasoning and shaved Parmesan. Ok. So introduce me, introduce everyone to your family at home. This is sunny, sunny. Do you like your mom's toast? Yeah, that's pretty good. Sonny's got a special toast on the menu, right? What's it called? The Sonny's toast? Um This is my daughter g we call her Gigi. She also has a toast named after her on the menu and my husband Jeff. Good morning, everyone. You know what? Oh, the shop, what do you shop or stop? What does that say? Stop, stop. It's so deceiving. It's a shop stop. We got a shop. Let's go inside. Ok. My sister's jewelry box. I mean, obviously it has a meaning to it, right? I mean, everyone think about your sister's jewelry box, your sister's closet. We have Rebecca, the owner here and you're also the president of the Love Business Association too. So I got to ask you the name. Is there a story behind it? Rebecca? Oh, my sister used to steal all my stuff. So it was a perfect fit. So now you're selling all your stuff. Yes. So what, what can we find here? You can find anywhere from jewelry, accessories, kids', clothing, giftware, women's clothing, we got it all, we got all. So let's go on, you wanna go on a tour? So we give everyone some like camera shopping, I guess. So explain what we got over here. We have a lot of fashion costume jewelry from earrings, necklaces, bracelets, we feature a lot of great lines and I will say some of my earrings do come from here, but I know we know you're a good customer. Um, when we feature a lot of uh artists, we have some specialty lines like little words project. Oh, you do carry these. That's great. Um And a lot of lines that give back, you know, like the TGL helpline gives back. Um We have John uh Michael Richardson earrings. We we pretty much go everywhere. And what's so great is that there's not many gift shops out there that you could get literally anything you could possibly imagine. We got wedding, anyone getting married in this whole section two and then you pop over and there's much more subway simas watching Sima. This is by the way, we went to your house. This is uh the gift that I got you when I came over for the pool party because you have a nice pool. Um But yeah, so you've been in business for how long? This is our 21st summer and this place still looks brand new. Oh, thank you. You keep it up. We, we keep try to keep it interesting. Switch it up every year. Uh We have tons of giftware over here, great hostess gifts and then our clothing, our sweatshirts, town sweatshirts and the best part you're open all year round. We're open seven days a week through Christmas and then we're open, uh, four days in the winter. So, come on down, everyone do some shopping. We're at Lauren, New Jersey.

We got the kids who should we go to first? I mean, sorry, we'll, we'll come back to you guys, but we got to go to Parker. What are you drinking, Parker? What are you drinking? Is that pink? So, I mean, how long have you been owning pliable? Um So this is our sixth season here in LA um Rob and I would been been with the brand for about seven years now. Um Yeah, I mean, it's still growing and exciting and every day there's a line and we're happy to be here. I know. And so what makes this place so good? Uh We grew up in this town, I grew up in LaVette Ryan, grew up in Seaside Park. So this is our home hometown. Amazing. And I mean, this strip in Lavalle here is always busy, you know, foot traffic galore, whether rain or shine, you know, rainy weather like yesterday doesn't hurt the business at all. Here. I honestly, I think the rainy weather sometimes gives you more business, right? Because everyone's looking for somewhere to go sometimes. Yeah. You know, I know they flood into the bar next door, the crabs club when it's raining. So, hey, Scott, can you go inside and show everyone the menu? Because I know likes bols. I'm not sure if Scott Scott is doing weather today, I'm not sure if he likes Boss and Nick. We have everyone just look at the menu. Um, what's like a top seller? Uh The nutella bowl, which is right here. That is the number one seller by far. It's usually what I get. And uh you have the pokey bowls. Yes, we have Pokey, we do tuna crab, uh salmon bowls. It's exciting, but most people just line up for nutella bowls and smoothies all day. Long. You know, every beach town needs a liquor store and they all need a parking lot. Joe here. Look, look at this sign that you guys made for me. Welcome Lauren. I love it. Ok, tell me about liquor. How long you've been here? LA Liquors has been here. 19 years, family owned, family operated, uh, during the summer. You almost always catch a in there. Um We're open 365 days a year. Christmas New Year's, all of them. Uh, nine in the morning to 10 at night. And it's kind of your one stop shop for beer, liquor, wine, fresh squeezed juices, mix sitters, fruit, walk in cigar, humidor, tons of ice, everything you need, everything you need. And he could just walk here. He could drive here, you could do whatever you want either way. Either way works. Yes, we have here. Walk down over the mayor we have here. I mean, thanks for coming out and supporting your local businesses. Thanks. For coming to LA and showcasing the community. We're glad to have you here. So, how is Lave in this summer summers? I'm a little nervous right now. No, Bill. You're gonna be great. Ok. Still about casts? All right. Castaways. We've been here for about two years. This is our second summer. Uh We're offering good food, good drinks, good service, a nice atmosphere. Uh, in a great town of LA, you should come down and check us out. You'll love it. I think some of you guys won't but a lot of people might so come on down and check us out. We also have the cleanest bathrooms around. I know Tony Caputo. He has an obsession with showing people bathrooms and sometimes so do I, but we'll spare them on this one. Yeah, it's a good thing because I didn't go in there yet. So there could be a couple of dragon tails on the toilet seat, but don't worry about that. We'll skip on to the next question. So, next question. What, what's the main dish here? Because this is good bar food? Yeah, it's good bar food. Uh, our steak sandwich is popular. It's, uh, a, a thin cut in New York strip on a French from Bakery. Shout out to Baltazar Bakery. Hey, Angle Cliffs. And, uh, we put broccoli robb on it. A little Swiss cheese. It's good. We have a salmon dish. Uh a roasted salmon over um artichoke and potatoes with a little mustard vinaigrette. It's really good, man. There's a few other things you like. The drinks are pretty tight. The mayor is waiting for his too. By the way, we're still hanging out with bottle. Good morning mayor. Should we take everyone outside? Let's go outside. It's a beautiful day. Yeah. All right. So Phil show us the outdoor patio. You got. This is the outdoor patio. This is right field, right field. What's going on on September 9th? You want to talk about September 9th is our annual founders' Day event the weekend after the Saturday. After Labor Day. It's been going on for the last, since Sandy. We changed the name from Heritage Day to Founders Day. A new organization took it over free rides for kids. A great family event goes on all day from, from about 10 o'clock until six o'clock at night. Amazing.
