And this morning we head out to Morris Park Bake shop on Morris Park Avenue where News 12 A mckenzie is right now. Tough morning for you Asia doing all this traveling around and checking out the good food and drinks all over the borough. Oh man, this is the hardest assignment I've ever had in my life. It is a lot of work to do it so you guys can be safe and ok, I sarcasm. Alright, so listen, we also have my, it was very much sarcasm. I'm very happy right now. So you guys saw how my morning started and I wanna end it with some amazing desserts. We are at the Morris Park bake shop and this is where all the baked goods are. This is a place that has been in the community for generations. It's well known as I'm in here. Loyal customers are coming to get their goods bright and early in the morning. And I wanna meet, want you guys to meet one of the workers here. This is Angelina. So you have been here for a year now. Yes, I've been working here for a little bit over a year now and I come here almost every day and you, and you love it and you have a special connection to this big shop too. So, what is it? I do. So, uh, when my grandma moved over here from West Farms a while ago, um, this is where she came every Saturday, Sunday to get her pastries and her baked goods. I remember waking up in the morning, going downstairs, getting the crumb buns, the cream puffs and whatnot. She came right here. So right now working here is a full circle moment for you. Yes. Working here is like a full circle moment. I come in, I open some days close, some days do a little bit of both, but it's nice. You get a lot of nice people in here. The owners, amazing people, even the customers. Amazing. Every day is a happy day. I love that. And we were talking about how this is a family spot. This is a place that has been in the borough for decades. Um And it's a place people know. So do people feel like family when they come in here? They do. A lot of people love the energy of the girls that work here. The owners, they bring their family when family comes down, they're like, they always tell me I gotta come to Mars Park bake shop. If you don't go there I'm not coming down, right? So you need this for the parties. All right. So let's show us the goods that you have here. So you are some of the favorites, right? These are some of the favorites come over here, Angela. So we can get a good shot of these over here. So what, what's going on? All right. So what you see on the plate there is our French Napoleon. That's probably one of our most popular things. Asides from the, it goes like hot cakes every day. Another real popular cake is our fruit Napoleon. It's like the same thing with fruit on top. That's another really big seller sells out real quick. All right. And we know Father's Day is this weekend. All right. So it's probably gonna be packed. It's gonna be really busy. This is on Morris Park Avenue where our news 12 Asia mckenzie is there right there. She is with the owner. She's making the popular very healthy wraps. It's busy behind. We're interrupting. Yeah. Are we interrupting something? Ok. You guys are not interrupting. I mean, it's a busy morning here at Healthy Fresh on Morris Park Avenue. Listen, you guys know where we've been today. All right, we were at a earlier, I had a sausage, egg and cheese. Listen, then I went to the coffee shop. I had a lot of espresso. So you know what? I think it's time for me to have something healthy. This is a ginger lemon shot that I'm about to take. So give me a second here. Oh, I feel healthy already. So because I can't really speak anymore. We're gonna come over here to Jamie Val, the owner of Healthy Fresh that had a hit to it. Jamie, what does this do? Oh, it's very good, you know, especially for inflammation. Um, you know, during this uh, the pandemic, you know, it's good for viruses, you know, especially right now before spring time. So, you know, it, so this, I should be, feel a lot better by the end of this, uh, conversation. All right. So, you have been open for seven years here in the Morris Park neighborhood. Why is it so important to have some healthy food here in the Bronx? Well, I think, you know, I believe, um, you know, you know what's happening right now, I think, uh, you know, healthy food, um, you know, exercising, you know, um maybe some written books, you know, will help us, you know, is the vitamin C. That's the vitamin C. Yes. So they have different shots for different things. So, inflammation, you got some vitamin C for your immunity and which one is this Jamie? This is called the Booster. What does it do? Which it has um, beets garlic, turmeric, um Cayenne pepper and ginger. OK. I'm gonna put it down because of the cayenne pepper because that other one was a little spicy. All right. All right. So talk to us a little bit about what you have here. You have two smoothies and we have some wraps. What's going on here. Well, you know, we actually, as you've seen, you know, we're trying to focus on like healthy stuff for the community. Um I believe they're saying that Bron is down rated um healthiest bottle, but we're gonna make it the healthiest bottle in New York. So, you know, uh we're trying to open a few more places. Um, you know, thanks for everybody, you know, support, you know, good customers can, um, teachers, you know, it's just, it's crazy, you know, we've been, it's amazing. That's so good. I see the smile on your face. You're happy the way the business has been going for seven years. So let's talk about these wraps. What do we have here? And what do we have here? Ok. Over here we have the uh lunch wrap. You know, this is the most popular wrap which it has grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, avocado, lettuce, tomato and a little ranch dressing. That looks good breakfast. This is egg whites, avocado and turkey sausage on a hobby wrap. Oh, you know, till dinner. And how about these smoothies here? We have, this is the most popular smoothie banana, peanut butter and chocolate protein with made with almond milk. You know, that's good right after the gym. Oh, here you go. That's it. This is the green juice. You know, sometimes you need to detox after, especially after the weekend. Kale spinach, apple celery, cucumber, green apple and pineapple. You can't go wrong. Oh News Asia mckenzie is live at one of the most popular coffee shops in the Bronx la Casa Del Cafe. This is on Morris Avenue. Yeah. As you've got the cafe owner there with you, right? I do, I do. We're going to get to Anna in a second. But like you said, one of the best coffee shops in the city and I, I'm already awake just from the smell of it. You see Anna Avi? She is the owner and she is already making us. What are you making us right now? All right. So I'm gonna drink both of them. I'm really gonna be up and up and bright this morning. So, Anna, you have been open since 1998. How has it been to be a staple in the community for that long? I like it. It's nice. The people. It's very nice. I, I like it. You love it and you even said like you not only see people from when they were younger, they bring their kids here too. So how much, how does, what does that mean to you? To me it's an honor, you know, be here so, so long and see all the these people grow growing up, you know, it's beautiful generation. That means you truly are someone they care about in the community. And I always say no one makes an espresso or cappuccino better than Italian. So you are showing us how it's done. No, no. Take the honor for sure. And even the New York Times called you one of the highest quality coffee shops in the entire city. So tell us what makes your coffee so great here. I love am coffee, good quality coffee, good machine, clean machine. And you have to like what you do and you clearly love it. I love it. All right. So what we have right here is a cappuccino or so we have to dust some of the uh chocolate on it, right? Yeah, we'll do a little sugar. Sugar. You want just 11? I don't wanna be too hyper. You want cinnamon or chocolate? I'm gonna do chocolate, chocolate. I've never had it with chocolate before. So we'll do that. This is Italian American ma can uh I wanna do Italian style. So I'm gonna take a quick little sip for you guys after Anna is done. I, I'll be careful. Don't worry. All right, let's see. I wanted to keep the and this is why you're the best, Anna. And this morning, we're heading out to Ann Claire Maria on Morris Park Avenue where News Twelve's mckenzie is with one of the owners Jimmy King and it looks like you're about to cook maybe some breakfast. I mean, that's maybe wishful thinking on. What do you call the breakfast? Listen, I'm letting the pros handle the breakfast here. Ok, guys, that's not the case for me. But listen, everything looks good here. We're gonna get to that in a bit. But like you said, we are again highlighting the amazing main streets across the borough that make our borough great. So, you know, on Monday, we were on Arthur Ave, then we're on King's Bridge and now we're in Morris Park and like you said, we are at an clear, so we're gonna show you this amazing business and also meet the people behind it. So this is Jimmy King. He is the co owner with your sister Sharon and you are celebrating 51 years in business. How does that feel? Uh It just feels amazing because most people, you know, they don't even last maybe 10 years, 20 years. But to go like actually my whole life, it just feels amazing and that we could just keep pushing. That's beautiful. And this is truly a family business. Your parents started this um back in 1972. So how important is this place to you? This is just like family, the the business because we know we're gonna keep going, make my parents proud and we even see on the walls. You have people from the community, you have your family members on here. So it truly is a place for community. So what, how was your celebration last year? Was the big five? Oh, for you guys. What did you do? Well, we actually got rained out. We did it but it was raining and being that it was the anniversary, I wanna postpone it. I wanted that day to go and whatever happened happened, you gotta celebrate the party, right and celebrate your milestone. So you guys are known for your heroes, your amazing sandwiches and also your hand made sausages. So tell me a little bit about that. OK. We've been making sausage since we opened. My father was actually a sausage maker before he bought the first business and um people love it. We kept the same quality from when we started and that's why we keep selling it and that's why people love to come here. It's like a place that a lot of families stop All right. So if somebody wants to make a stop here this morning, what do you recommend? They get? Well, most people start out with breakfast, bacon and egg cheese and egg or one of our fresh muffins up front. Some people actually even buy lunch. You also to go with them. That's gonna be me too. No problem. Congratulations on 51 years. So, listen, if you want to head out here to get yourself a sandwich, some olives, maybe some homemade sausages to make later for dinner. This is the spot to be right here here on Morris Park and I'm gonna send it back to you guys. I'm hungry. What are you gonna get bacon, egg and cheese or just sausage, egg and cheese? You know? Just Alan knows if we got some rain headed our way for this first day of December. Yeah, not a lot, but enough that it's going to cause a little bit of an inconvenience there for the evening commute. Take a look at the exact timing here, hour by hour. You're going to notice that the odds go up after three o'clock. So for that evening commute, 456, you're going to see some of these showers could be that little bit of a steadier burst here 6 to 7 p.m. and then it tails off by nine o'clock. We're pretty much done with the rain. That's good. But then for the weekend, maybe not the best looking weekend, but salvaging Saturday, Saturday, how about 60? I'm pushing up the high because I have a feeling we're going to get a couple of peaks of sunshine and that's going to allow the temperatures to soar enjoy tomorrow outside while you can because the rain returns on Sunday, it will also be cooler. It'll be a little bit on the dreary side. So let's take a look at that Sunday future cast because Saturday, I don't have much to show you because it's going to be dry. It's going to be a mix of sun and clouds for Sunday. However sure it starts off dry at about 7 a.m. But we're going to notice showers moving in from the south and west by the afternoon. Here we go by 11 a.m. Brunch plans move them inside because there will already be showers. This looks to be a little bit steadier of a rain compared to today's rain. Notice already some of the yellows on the feature cast around two o'clock. Then later on into the afternoon, even some orange, around 4 to 5 o'clock, there's a pocket of moderate to maybe heavy rain. That's possible that's going to move quickly through. So by the evening hours things start tapering off and Monday morning, we might have a lingering shower or two. But aside from that, we're pretty much smooth sailing, aside from today's showers and Sunday showers, I have that yellow highlight just so that, you know, that Sunday looks to be a little bit messy, messy Sunday, but Saturday is beautiful. Ok. I guess we got to take what we can get, salvage a little bit of the, it's better than the teens.

We head out to Little Yemen Jewelry on Morris Park Avenue. That's where News Twelve's Aisha mckenzie is to find some new bling to add to her collection. A I thought you were stylish already. But I guess if some is good, then more is better, right? Listen, more is so much better. Do you see this beautiful necklace that I have on? That's right. I'm at Little Yemen Jewelry and the entire store is just magnificent. So I do want you to meet the managers here. So we have Jana over right here and we also have Abdullah. So this place is beautiful. You've only been open for three weeks. So how has it been in the past three weeks? It's been, it's been great at the grand opening. We had almost like 100 people show up and people have been showing up. They're just amazed at everything. They can't believe that this store is in the Bronx and in their neighborhood, right? I mean, high end jewelry. It's so unique. So what makes you guys stand out in this community, Jenna? Well, it's the first store in the Bronx. That's like the good part. Um Most of Yemen, this is what they wear. So we need this. Yeah. Um and I am impressed that everything in here is no less than 21 karat gold. I mean, that's why it's so blingy in here, right? So tell me a little bit about what we're seeing behind us for you guys. Let me move out the way so we can get a good shot here. So what are we seeing? This is what brides wear or married women? This is a tiara for a um a bride on her wedding day. Um This is like for a bride to a a mother anyone and this too that is beautiful. So what can you say it is to be in the Bronx and have your Yemeni culture on display in this way showing off the jewelry a part of the culture. How is it for you? It's just great. It's great to represent the culture over here in the States and the community loves it. Yeah. No, it is gorgeous and like I said, I'm having too much fun trying all of this on. I had that tiara on earlier. Felt like a true queen. All right. So listen, if you are in the market for some beautiful jewelry, definitely stop by little Yemen jewelry here in Morris Park again.
