In today's Made in New Jersey, News 12 popped into Popcorn for the People, a company in Middlesex County dedicated to empowering and employing individuals with disabilities.

The company, which began a decade ago, has grown from humble beginnings to now include a factory in Piscataway and a second site in Philadelphia. "From humble beginnings to the factory we have now the second site in Philadelphia," says Christian Perez, Production Manager at Popcorn for the People.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2023, 22.5% of people with disabilities were employed, marking the highest employment ratio recorded since these statistics began.

Popcorn for the People sells bags online and at various venues, including theaters and even at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly during Eagles games. They offer five flavors: Butter, Cheddar, Caramel, Dark Chocolate Espresso, and Kettle.
