Authorities charged a Lodi man with murder Monday in a 34-year-old cold case.

The nude and battered body of 6-year-old Vincent Barbarino was found at a construction site in 1972. The victim?s brother, 50-year-old Joseph Barbarino, is now accused of his murder. Joseph Barbarino was 15 when his brother?s body was found. Prosecutors say new evidence, but not DNA, led them to charge Joseph with the boy?s murder.

Police have not revealed what they think was a possible motive in the murder. The Barbarino family says Joseph is innocent and plans to stick behind him. Joseph is being held at the Bergen County Jail.
