234ds agoDespite earning three Tony Awards and rave reviews, "Life of Pi" is ending its run early. The final show is July 23.
Based on the popular novel, the story is about a boy who is the only human survivor of a shipwreck along with some of his family's zoo animals. The action/adventure/drama features puppetry, beautiful staging and sound design. In a twist, the actor who plays Pi, Hiran Abeysekera, will leave the show on July 9. Pi will become a female character when an actress takes over the role for the final couple of weeks.
News 12’s John Bathke paid a visit to Drawing Rooms, a gallery in Jersey City, to check out "NJ & Me: Imperfect Together." The exhibit is about the relationship the 17 participating New Jersey artists have with New Jersey. It includes many photographs of New Jersey landmarks - from amusement rides at the Jersey Shore to Madame Marie, the fortune teller in Asbury Park. But there's also the idea of tension between residents and the state.
“Something of a conflict perhaps, so we show in this show there's work about urban areas, the way they really are. The pollution makes beautiful sunsets,” Jim Pustorino said.
Eileen Ferara says, “I think an overall theme in my work is how we relate to the environment and how we impact it. And I like to think of where I go as urban wild spaces."
The exhibit will be on display through July 29 at the Drawing Rooms gallery.
