Event industry workers went
to Trenton Tuesday to protest, saying they've given Gov. Phil Murphy a plan to
safely reopen, but they haven't heard anything from state leaders.
The event industry was one
of the first to shut down in March, and now, they want more money and support.
"Bowling alleys are
open, movie theaters are open, schools are open, malls are open, restaurants
are open for indoor dining, but we cannot safely open indoor wedding and social
and corporate events,” says Anthony Gerard, with the Live Events Coalition.
“That's what we are
advocating to Gov. Murphy's office. Just listen to us. Let us tell you how to
open these events safely."
The group says the live
events industry is the second largest employer in New Jersey.
