A recent graduate from Lehman College received a prestigious grant to teach English in South Korea.
Zarin Tasnim is one of less than 100 recipients of the Fulbright Scholarship for English-teaching assistants in South Korea.
Tasnim found out about her trip to South Korea in April. A professor at Lehman College encouraged her to apply for the grant.
Tasnim, a political science and history major, has embarked on a one-year exchange program. She left on July 4 for Korea.
In addition to teaching English, Tasnim will also be teaching American culture.
Every day, Tasnim spends hours learning Korean. It's all part of her training so she can start to teach English in a few weeks.
Tasnim has studied abroad in the past. She has received a number of academic awards both at Lehman College and at Brooklyn Tech High School.
