A Rutgers University law student is suing the school over discrimination.
Yoel Ackerman claims the school discriminated and retaliated against him after he spoke out against antisemitism on campus. Ackerman claims a fellow student sent him a video that denied Hamas’ actions during the attack in Israel.
He reported the video to the Jewish Law Students’ Association.
Ackerman says Rutgers then filed charges against him for sharing the video. He says he could face possible suspension or expulsion.
A spokesperson for Rutgers says the university takes seriously claims of antisemitism, Islamophobia and all forms of bias and intolerance. The spokesperson says such claims are investigated.
