Last dog left to be adopted from shelter finds new home
The last dog left at an animal shelter that was closing down has finally found a new home.
The New Beginnings Animal Rescue in East Brunswick was closing down and all but Princess, an 11-year-old boxer-pit bull mix, were adopted out.
The shelter told News 12 New Jersey that no customers were interested in the dog, so they put out a plea for someone to come adopt her.
Melissa Covello saw the story on News 12 and contacted the rescue to adopt Princess.
“I turn on News 12 and I see her picture and I lost it…I said, ‘Eight months? No one wanted this poor thing in eight months? I have to get her,’” says Covello.
Covello says that she recently lost her other dog of 17 years so the timing was perfect to welcome Princess. She says the dog is sweet and lovable and is adjusting well to her new home.
