The students of St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City may not be homeless, but they were trying to learn what those who are must experience.
The school held its annual Student Sleep Out. Students spend a cold night in the school courtyard to show support for the millions of young people who experience homelessness each year.
It wasn’t just a show of solidarity – it was also a fundraiser. The one night outside wound up breaking a new school record by raising nearly $86,000.
The money is going to the New Jersey nonprofit Covenant House.
