There is an amazing comeback story going on at Rider University.
Sean Binning is a freshman and the star of the school’s diving team.
Diving has been a passion of Binning’s since he was a kid. But it is also in his history.
Binning had a brain hemorrhage that nearly killed him three years ago. It started with a headache that quickly progressed to numbness and paralysis.
Emergency surgery saved his life. He woke up after 18 days in a coma.
“I was on a lot of meds, so it was hard to know what was happening. I can’t speak because of the trach. It was very confusing, mainly,” he says.
Now three years later, not only has Binning worked his way back to the pool, but has also won championships. He says he plans to continue diving through his senior year.
